Western Electric 202 Telephone Subset Box This one has been rewired for modern wall jack. Fantastic shape. Was a significant advancement as it integrated the transmitter (mouthpiece) and receiver (earpiece) into a single, hand-held unit, known as a handset. Was the first widely distributed phones from W.E. to adopt this single-handset design, moving away from separate components like the earlier candlestick phones. The subset box in the background contained the network and ringer components, as the main telephone unit itself primarily housed the switchhook and dial.
